The experience of figurative art from the beginning of the 20th century to the 1970s was marked by a number of artists who consciously stayed away from the trends and critically recognised artistic genres of the time. Some of these artists chose to remain faithful to traditional painting with its long history, favouring the presentation of perspectives closely linked to the visual beauty of the world, rather than being influenced by conceptualism. The female figure is undoubtedly one of the favourite themes of these artists, symbolising the joys and challenges of everyday life. These works display deep psychological and emotional tensions, depicting women in different postures or in a dreamy state of closed-eye reverie, capturing their inner complexity: sometimes mysterious, sometimes seductive and fragile, but at the same time strong and unyielding. The works show the different stages of life from youth to old age, expressing the difficulties of life or achievements on a social level, while the women always remain conscious of their femininity and beauty.
